In September 2021 we bade goodbye to Lucy Hannah, who stepped down from the Board following three years of service. Lucy has been a stalwart ally of the company, the team and its work for many years. We are greatly thankful for her support and we wish her well with her future endeavours.

As we move forward to new chapters and following our recruitment campaign for a new chair, Jonathan Meth is passing the baton of the Chair to Sue Williams, an artist, equality policy professional and activist. Jonathan will remain on the board as Sue takes on the mantle of Chair.

“I am delighted to take on the role of Chair of Vital Xposure. Vital Xposure has much to contribute to the global arts and theatre ecology and I look forward forward to working with the fantastic staff team and Board on the next phase of the what looks to be an exciting journey”

Sue Williams, Chair

“Vital Xposure has benefited greatly from Jonathan’s commitment and engagement with the company as chair and critical friend over recent years. Sue William’s appointment as Chair is another exciting development for the company as it enters its second decade, and I look forward to working with Sue over the coming weeks and months.”

We are also delighted to welcome Kate Lovell on our Board. Kate is a disabled and neurodivergent writer, director, dramaturg, script-reader and theatre maker. Her background as an artist-activist, making and supporting work that pushes for social change chimes with our commitment at this pivotal time for the company.

“I am truly delighted to be welcoming both Sue and Kate as new trustees on our board. I worked with Kate at Theatre Royal Stratford East and know her utter commitment to disability arts and her extensive knowledge of theatre making. It is an outstanding coup for VX to entice Sue to be leading our board as Chair. She brings vital experience from her time as senior diversity officer at the Arts Council, and as a disabled artist and activist. I know these two disabled women are going to give us great strategic strength as we shape our mission for disabled people to not just be included in culture, but to lead culture.”
